Paul's understanding of humanity was based on his own understanding of Christ's humanity. When Saul became Paul, LOVE was the change; Christ's love. (2 Cor. 5:17) Because of his change (the old being dead and the new alive) Christ is his model for humanity and how he should love others. He was no longer about "self-interest and self-promotion" but about "self-emptying" and becoming obedient, even to the extent of death.
Love "is letting be" not necessarily union. It is not uniting, but enabling. The greatest love is costly because it can only be accomplished by spending everything one has for another.
(Nathan D. Mitchell)
What do you mean by "love is letting be not necessarily union. It is not uniting, but enabling"? Can you say more about that?
ReplyDeleteThis is simply a summary of an article I read, not my opinion. I think that it is meaning between people. it was saying that love is not uniting people, but letting people be....like how people say that if you love someone you will let them go.
